Listed along side are the mahurats for weddings in year 2007. As is commonly known there are no Shubh Mahurats
in the monsoon months of Shravan (August), Bhadra
(September) and Aashwin (October). This is due a Hindu belief that
the Gods are 'sleeping' during these three months. It is also supported
by the impracticality of having a wedding ceremony during the damp days
of the monsoon.
For any couple the mahurats are chosen on the basis of the 'Janam Patri' of both
the bride and the groom. Depending on the various Rashi Chakras and the
date of birth, the positions of Rahu and Khetu and the match between
the bride and the groom, the Pandit selects the best 'Mahurat' for
the wedding. This is supposedly the day that brings the most luck and
prosperity to the sacred union between the couple. Thus, the wedding
that takes place on a good mahurat is a blessed one.
However, whether one believes this or not is simply a matter of individual
preferences. We at manuhaar has no particular preference for any religion. All matter on the site is simply a function of ease of access and availability.
